Taryn Time!

Here are five sweet pictures of my little girl!
Sleeping Peacefully! She was 2 months old!
2 1/2 months. With her big eyes wide open! And I just love her pouty little lips!
Peacefully sleeping naked in her bath towel!
I just know she is thinking, "I'm just like the big kids, slurping my own Capri Sun out of a straw!
"That's right! Show me the Love!"
or
"Oh my goodness, can you get her to stop, or what?"

This little sweetheart is so full of spunk and fun! She never stops moving, and I mean NEVER! Even those who love her and bribe her into letting them hold her, will eventually give up and put her back on the floor. She is so squirmy it makes her difficult to hold on too. At church, or any other time/place when you just need her to freeze for a second all you have to do is hang her upside down or let her hang her head off your lap. She loves it and will generally look around for ten minutes, or until her face is so red that I feel like I'm torturing her. (You should see some of the looks I get walking the halls with an upside down baby!)
Taryn doesn't cry much at all. Only when she is hurt or really tired. However, she is really great at letting you know what she wants, by yelling! She will just sit in her high chair and holler when she runs out of food, until you get her more! She hollers about most everything, happy, sad, mad and frustrated! She is loud too! She loves to hear herself talk, LOUDLY! It is pretty cute. She is a crack up to watch and listen to when you sit her in front of a mirror!
She is a picky eater! (Not in the same way her daddy is though.) She has never given any baby cereal (i.e. rice, oatmeal, barley) the time of day, and will actually seal her lips together should you attempt to feed them to her. She will gladly eat cooked original oatmeal with the rest of the clan! She loves balsamic vinagriette covered noodles (from my pasta salad), this one surprised us! She likes her food to be seasoned and warm. One fun food story--she would not eat her sweet potato chunks and was yelling at me! I warmed, buttered, salted and peppered them and the whole 1/2 cup was gone in under 3 minutes!

She is such a happy baby! We think she may skip quickly over crawling in favor of walking. She has only been crawling distances for a week or two, and she has been pulling up on things for the past few days and is starting to cruise along them! Look out world! Here comes Taryn!

Husband Tag!

Thanks for the tag Megan! ;)

Ok, since most bloggers I know are female, let's take a moment to share some details about our husbands. Make sure to post a picture of your honey bunch too!

DISCLAIMER: If tagged, here's what you do. Post the questions below and fill in your information on your blog. Then, at the end, list 5 friends you "tag." It's a great way to get to know fun little things about people.

What is your husbands name? Steve! However, I belong to the exclusive club of 3 who gets to call him Steven (the others were mom & grandma)! And he still only likes that occasionally, and preferably when I'm not mad.
How long have you been together? We started dating in September of '98 and got married October 23, 1999!
Who said I love you first? Me, by about 3 seconds :)
Who is smarter? Steve would say that I am, at least in the book smarts department. But he has a mind like a steal trap! Seriously, he remembers anything he hears, reads or sees. Both amazing information and completely useless facts!
Who does the housework? That depends on Steve's work schedule. Christmas time, all me. Steve owns a vacation route now, so if he covers someone on a really busy route, we don't see him then either. Since I'm home more I do most of the cleaning, and he helps with dishes and laundry a lot. In Denver when he was home before me, I would come home to a clean house and laundry a lot!
When looking at the bed, who sleeps on the right? That changes a lot. In our house in Denver it was me. Now it is Steve. When I am pregnant I make him switch me, so I can lay on my left side and face out. Steve would say I sleep in the middle, and that is usually where I wake up!
Who pays the bills? Currently it is me.
Who cooks dinner? Again, currently me. Steve can cook and grill really well though. In Denver he developed a talent for cooking salmon in many different and tasty ways, so I try to put that on the menu regularly and insist that he work his magic.
Who drives when you are together? Always Steve! You would think that he would get sick of driving. I guess since he does it all the time and is a very good driver he ends up being a terrible back (passenger) seat driver, that makes me crazy. He also is a walking GPS so I just let him drive. I don't mind at all.
Who is more stubborn? I'm pretty sure this is no contest for me! He is stubborn too, but he is much more subtle about it than I am.
Who kissed who first? He kissed me!
Who asked out who first? He finally asked me out on a real date when my roommate told him he couldn't hang out with me anymore if he didn't! We had been doing the big group hang out thing for awhile. (He had even kissed me before our first 'real' date! He had to know I wouldn't turn him down! :)
Who proposed? He did, a very simple sweet proposal. I knew it was coming, because we had been picking out bands for me and him. His mom died when he was 19 and Steve got her wedding ring. So we put her big diamond in a new setting for me and we put the 6 little diamonds into Steve's band. I just didn't know when the rings were going to be done!
Who has more siblings? Me! I have 5 sisters and 1 brother. Steve has 2 brothers and 1 sister!
Who wears the pants? I have to say we share them pretty well. He looks way better in them than I do though!
I recently put all of our pictures on an external hard drive, and without plugging that back in this is the only picture I had of Steve. I sure think it is a cute one. He got Taryn out of her 1st or 2nd big girl bath (sitting up in her bath chair) while I finished up with Byron. She played so hard in the tub that she fell asleep in daddy's arms before he even got her diaper on!
Since I'm new to blogging the only people I can think of to tag (who haven't done this yet) are Kristin and Karalee!

The Terrifying ELE - VADER!!!

For those of you who are not well versed in Star Wars history, there is one who is even more frightening that the dark lord Darth Vader himself. Let me introduce you to the the greatest Sith of the Dark Side . . . Dum, dum, dum!

ELE VADER!

He wields his mighty light saber with pure expertise!

He strikes terror into the hearts of all his victims with one gaze!

He is terrifying to behold in his red Sith cloak!

So the story goes a little something like this. . . Byron was running around in his red towel after a bath. I was getting Taryn dressed in her pajamas. I asked Byron to go and get his pajamas on and he told me, "I am not Byron. I am Star Wars. Get out your lightsaber and fight with me." So we air fought with our pretend lightsabers. Suddenly it occurred to me that I could use this to my advantage. I put my air lightsaber away and told Byron, "I'm sorry, but I can only fight you Byron if you have your pajamas, or at least your underwear on."

He said, "I am not Byron!"

"Who are you then?"

"I am the red guy."

It later occurred to me that he might have meant Darth Maul, but he has only seen episodes IV, V and VI. So I said, "what red guy?"

"The Bad Guy!"

"You mean Darth Vader?"

"Yeah, Darth Vader. No, not Darth vader. . . Um, I'm Ele Vader!"

I about fell over I was laughing so hard. I made him go tell his dad who he was and he came back with his lightsaber (pictured above). Steve joined me in my laughter. Byron is so funny. He wanted to make sure he was the right character, so he said, "is Ele Vader the one who flies? I want to go up and down."

I assured him that yes indeed elevators go up and down, and we just laughed harder. He is still being true to the character of Ele Vader, especially after every bath! That was about two weeks ago. We were sure that he would catch his mistake, especially since we still laugh every time he tells us he is Ele Vader! I think at this point we will be sad to see Ele Vader go when he gets it right! Hope you laugh, or at least smile as hard as we did!

Jumping on the Blog Wagon!

So I've weighed my options and decided to blog. Actually I was told I had to blog to document some of the hilariously funny (yeah, they're that good) things that Byron says and does! So I hope that you enjoy reading the adventures of our little family! I'm just excited that I can turn this into a book at then end of the year! Since scrapbooking never goes as planned :) Here's to getting it all down!
